Job Brief
A Product Engineer is a professional who is responsible for designing commercial products and their production processes. This position works closely with product development teams to turn ideas into marketable items based on industry research.
At ZICS, our Product Engineer uses engineering methods to manage product issues and meet business objectives. He/She reviews process efficiency and quality of finished products. He/She carries out tests and reviews on new products. He/She carries out network solutions for product test result tracking. In addition, he/she leads production and manufacturing systems projects for improvement. He/She must create test programmes while following objectives. He/She follows all workplace safety and health procedures.
The Product Engineer is therefore required to lead a team to meet goals. He/She guides and mentors other team like the Assistant Engineers.
At ZICS we are actively looking for a Product Engineer to join our team and facilitate the design and manufacturing of our next line of exciting products which include automated wooden, metal works and smart furniture designs.
Product Engineer responsibilities include designing and overseeing the manufacturing process of our goods to ensure they meet our company’s safety and quality standards.
Ultimately, the product Engineer will work closely with our design team to create commodities that meet our organization’s standards.
Product Engineer job will include:
- Developing design ideas based on customer interests, budgets and market research
- Meeting with the development team to discuss product ideas
- Analyzing market and industry product trends
Responsibilities
- Create rough product designs using sketches and computer software
- Conduct theoretical testing on design models
- Create full product designs and specifications using computer software modeling techniques
- Select product materials and design the product manufacturing process
- Oversee assembly and ensure that products conform to market specifications and safety regulations
- Conceptualize new product ideas by using CAD software to design prototypes.
- Fabricate prototypes for testing.
- Sample different materials, manufacturing processes, design tolerances, and other factors to find the best ones that suit the new product brief
- Fine-tune designs until they are ready for production
- Deliver product specifications and procedures to the manufacturing team for production purposes.
- Develop quality control criteria and safety guidelines and ensuring that all team members adhere to them.
Must Have
- Proven work experience as a Product Engineer or similar role
- Experience with 3D modeling software and report writing programs.
- Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
- Robotics Process Automation-RPA Experience
- Advanced analytical and design skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of industry and market trends
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical / Electrical Electronics Engineering or similar field is preferred
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Product Engineer
- A Master's degree in Engineering may be advantageous.
- Excellent math, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
